Because I can clearly never do anything plain. $30 and a little YouTube gets you balloon towers and decor for the Talent Show.

Music teachers from all over the state come together to share ideas, buy new stuff (the shirt above was my first purchase), and enjoy performances from other schools and organizations. Every year it is held in San Antonio. Jeremy and I went together.

*see more pics under the "Our Pictures" page Jeremy has been teaching about persuasive writing in class. Apparently, they took this lesson to heart and decided as a group to write about why and what kind of animal their classroom needed. Now we have a rabbit. We were able to get him donated from a shelter in Fort Worth. The supplies, however, cost A LOT! All in the name of education. The children have promised that this is their rabbit and will dutifully care for it.
Update 2/20/18: The children love this rabbit and are, in fact, taking care it. Only one child completely refuses. Another child is afraid of Ollie, but has been pushing herself to try to gently touch him when someone else holds him. She has no reservations about him being in the cage, cleaning the cage, or putting food out for him while someone else holds him. Update 3/10/18: Unfortunately, Ollie's health has taken a turn. We had him seen by a parent at the school who is also a vet. She believes it is just a UTI. I am giving him multiple daily medications and an IV to keep his fluids up. We hope this treatment will make him feel like new within the week. If not, this may be something much more serious and likely something we cannot afford. Update 3/20/18: (end of Spring Break at school) Ollie's health had been steadily improving over the last 10 days. He was eating and drinking on his own and playing and hoping around again. He has relapsed even worse than before. I fear he is saying goodbye. We have made arrangements to return him to the animal shelter we got him from. They, in turn, have made arrangements for surgery. This is the last we will know. I am going to assume he will be healed and taken care of by someone with the resources to continue his care and medical needs. |
